Well done, we must say… In over a decade of witnessing many newlyweds, we have seen an increasing number of international marriages, and we are beyond grateful to have been trusted with hosting them. In this blog, we discuss how to go about planning an international wedding in Lithuania.

Planning an international wedding

Arranging a wedding when only one of you speaks Lithuanian can be overwhelming, as a communication barrier is introduced. It is important that both parties’ thoughts and preferences are taken into account. Inviting guests from all over the world

Our personal best record is hosting a wedding celebration with guests from 11 countries! Here are some tips on how to bring them all together:

• Make a list of suggested flights from all destinations and encourage your guests to book those.
• Pick a recommended hotel for the guests to stay in and, if you can, arrange a bus transfer from the location to the venue.
• Get people excited for their trip by sharing some photos of Lithuania.
• Ensure you prepare a guide on things to do in your city for those who will stay in Lithuania longer than your wedding celebration.

Blending of traditions

We have hosted guests and newlyweds from all over the world – from our neighbours in Latvia to as far as Kenya in Africa and Boston in the US! Here are a few details we’ve enjoyed seeing:

• Both country flags displayed at the ceremony and in the décor.
• Multilingual host (get in touch for recommendations).
• Ask your host if they can lead a quiz on fun facts from both countries.
• A mix of music by artists from both countries.
• Randomised seating plans so guests from all over the world get to know each other.
• If you can, order some traditional sweet treats from abroad.
